About vivergo fuels
Vivergo Fuels is an exciting new joint venture business which will help to deliver the UK's mandated bio-fuel requirements once fully operational. Vivergo Fuels bio-fuel plant at Salt End, near Hull, will produce around 420 million litres of bioethanol from approximately one million tonnes of British feed wheat per annum. In addition to producing bioethanol the plant will produce around 500,000 tonnes per annum of mid-protein, high-fibre animal feed.
These feeds will be produced from UK wheat, and will therefore be fully traceable and GM-free. The scale and continuous nature of the bioethanol production process will ensure the business produces consistent quality feeds – which in turn can lead to a reduction in diet fluctuation and optimised animal performance.
Vivergo will produce three forms of FEMAS-assured animal feed in the approximate quantities shown:
- Vivergo Pelleted Feed 390,000t
- Vivergo Moist Feed 130,000t
- Vivergo Liquid Feed 25,000t
How are these feeds different
Our livestock feeds are backed by the nutrition expertise and distribution network of Trident Feeds. This ensures that the feeds always meet the highest standards of nutritional quality and customer service that UK agriculture demands.
Our feeds are produced to achieve a consistent quality, high nutritional value and optimal animal performance delivered through a unique and distinctive partnership supply chain.

It is the combined experience and expertise of the partners involved in the Vivergo Fuels partnership that makes it truly unique – BP, British Sugar, Du Pont, Frontier Agriculture, KW alternative feeds and Trident Feeds. Each partner has been selected for its industry leading knowledge and expertise and together they combine to create a best in class operation for both fuel and feed production.
For Vivergo producing a consistent high specification livestock feed is as important to Vivergo as the bioethanol it makes, indeed the plant was designed, built and tested with as much focus on the quality of the feed as on the bioethanol itself. This is why Vivergo has supply agreements with Frontier Agriculture - to procure the 1.1m tonnes of wheat, and KW Trident - who are responsible for marketing the 500,000 tonnes of feed produced. These partners manage every stage of the supply chain, from farm, to processor, and back to farm again. This rigour enables Vivergo to maintain exceptionally high standards of quality control throughout.
